For adults with cognitive disabilities or autism, the Elmhurst, Inc. activity program provides a stimulating environment to grow and achieve individual goals as well as explore opportunities that the Mid Coast area has to offer.  A monthly calendar of events is developed in conjunction with staff which highlights local activities and educational experiences.  Individuals enjoy monthly Pot Luck dinners which are held in Bath and can number up to 90 participants.  These dinners provide an opportunity to renew acquaintances, try out different foods, and have a great time learning the latest dance step.

Individuals are also involved in a variety of volunteer and community activities including delivering Meals on Wheels to senior citizens, assisting staff at the local soup kitchen, and helping care for the animals at the local Humane Society.  These activities provide an opportunity for people to give back to the communities that have been so generous to them in so many ways.

In addition to the community activities, individuals also have the opportunity to participate in a number of educational classes including cooking, nutrition, building healthy relationships, budgeting, etc.  Literacy volunteers help to improve their reading skills as well. Physical fitness is encouraged through various activities at the Bath YMCA, Brunswick Bike Path, and therapeutic horseback riding. Individuals participate in a local bowling league and take advantage of local parks, beaches, and theaters.
